HOW TO DEAL WITH THYROID PROBLEMS

The thyroid, a small, butterfly-shaped gland below your Adam’s apple, and it pretty much rules your body.
It regulates your metabolism and an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) slows everything down—from your pulse and temperature to your energy level and the rate at which you burn calories.
An overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), on the other hand, revs the body into overdrive.
Hypothyroidism—Worldwide, the most common cause is iodine deficiency, though autoimmune disorders ,radiation to treat cancers of the head and neck, and medications such as lithium can also be the reason.
Smptoms includes fatigue, forgetfulness, depression, heavier periods, dry hair and skin, mood swings, weight gain, intolerance to cold, hoarseness, and constipation.
If you have a number of these symptoms, you must undergo thyroid tests.
Depending on the results, you may need to take daily synthetic thyroid hormones. But you can also complement hormone therapy with the following key nutrients, all of which are necessary for healthy thyroid function. Even if you have normal thyroid levels, these essential vitamins and minerals can help keep your thyroid running smoothly.
Selenium. Before thyroid hormones can do their job, your body must convert them into an active form. This requires the mineral selenium.
people with thyroid problems—as well as those with healthy glands must have 200 mcg of selenium daily to promote thyroid health.
Zinc. You also need an adequate amount of zinc for your thyroid hormones to function correctly.
Taking 10 mg of zinc a day would be ok; and because zinc can block copper absorption, be sure to take 1 to 2 mg of copper daily as well.
L-tyrosine. Too little L-tyrosine, a critical amino acid, limits the amount of thyroid hormones the body can make, so taking L-tyrosine supplements can kick start a sluggish thyroid.,however “L-tyrosine supplements can be too stimulating for some people,” giving them the “jitters” and causing insomnia.
Start with 200 mg or less a day and work up to 500 mg if you tolerate it well.
Iodine. Essential for many bodily functions, iodine also plays a role in the production of thyroid hormones. “But it’s tricky,“because while iodine deficiency is a major risk factor for hypothyroidism, too much iodine can aggravate the thyroid and worsen existing conditions.”
You need at least 150 mcg of iodine a day, most of which you can get through salt.
However, if you use noniodized salt, you need to get iodine from other sources, such as seafood, seaweed, dairy, and eggs.
If you eat any of these foods, you shouldn’t need to supplement. Problems from too much iodine arise when you take several milligrams daily.

YES IT'S HOLI AGAIN (#KhulkeKheloHoli)

Holi is the most vibrant, colorful and joyous festival of India. The very thought of holi takes me back to my village. I was a little girl then. That year , on the eve of holi, we had left the chaos of the city to embrace the real joy of holi on our mother soil.

We have a big mansion in our village of around 30 rooms surrounding a big courtyard, 3 main doors to inside and four stairs in different parts of the mansion lead to the terrace. In a while, my uncle too reached along with his family.
Yet that day, i felt lost in that huge house and as it got dark, the dog's barking made the scenario worse for a child like me who was experiencing a village for the first time.
That night, men of the village gathered in the school premises to sing folk songs of holi called falgun.
Me , unaware of this, listened to those voices under the warm, velvet quilt covering my body in that yet shivery night of Indian spring beside my mother and thought that i am dreaming till i opened my eyes to find myself in a huge, dark room enlightened by the dim light of a lantern kept in a corner.

I woke up my mother in haste to ask her when will we go back and where papa was only to see her smiling and telling me that he has gone to join the choir, i was hearing. She embraced me to her chest and i stuck my tiny self to her body and covered myself properly with quilt protecting myself from those strange fears that conquered my mind in that dark, huge room while praying silently for the well being of my father.

I slept in no moment only to wake up to the chirping of birds and pigeons, who were all over my courtyard, windows and terrace. The sunlight was so refreshing. The day was Holika Dahan and  it took a few hours , that my huge mansion was echoing with voices of numerous Buas, fufas, uncles, aunties and may be around a dozen kids including me and my younger brother. The day passed in a blink and at night i went to sleep to find myself and my little brother held in the arms of my father and being taken to a large ground surrounded by numerous people with a pile of woods in the center at midnight.

It was set to fire in no moment. My father asked me to fold my hands and make prayers as it signified victory of good over evil , It will fulfill my wishes. Me, with all my serenity of an eight year old, spoke to the fire silently about my desire of becoming a doctor.😂😂😂 ( aaaaah.. i was shooo innocent).

The night was followed by Holi. We were already very excited, knowing from one of our uncles about how much fun it is to play holi and how will we play making teams, prepping color and secretly coloring others without them being prepared. The kids were already divided in teams and there were some arguments and tantrums of being in a particular team by some too.

Then me with two other kids headed to the kitchen to find my mom and aunts preparing gujhiya, puaa, dahibara, aloo kathal dum , kachauri and malpuaa to name a few. Around 6 stoves were on fire with huge karhais kept on them having oil boiling to the top with delcacies there in.

We ate the delicacies dancing, screaming and roaming like a funtoosh all over the mansion only to be stopped by the scream of our youngest fufa running from our aunties to escape being colored.  This lead us to the kitchen, where everyone was trying to color each other and laughing  and giggling until my eldest uncle reached there and everyone came on the terrace except for two ladies, who were still in kitchen laughing and giggling while preparing ghujiyas.

All the kids were trying to protect their parents from being colored until the time they realized that they had become a part of this. It continued till may be three and then everyone struggled to wash the colors off their bodies with partial success.
In the evening, everyone was ready, wearing white clothes . Abir (dry color) and masala (dry fruits) was kept in the center of the courtyard.

All the kids and younger people put the abir on the feet of the elders and got masala to eat by elders along with their obligations.  Elders and everyone of same generation applied the abir on the cheeks of each other. People from other families joined us too and then we ended the evening with dinner in the courtyard , where everyone was sitting on the floor and being distributed the delicacies in pattals (pattals are disposable plates made up of leaves).
At night, all of us were in a huge room. Kids were having fun listening to the talks of our elders about their holi memories and mimicking each other's actions and reactions while playing holi in the morning . I don't remember when i slept that night.

Next morning, chicken curry was prepared in dalan area by a cook of ours and we had it.
(Dalan is an area meant for male guests and formal meetings in the village just outside the main home)

We left for the city in the evening, leaving our big mansion. But, i didn't want to. I never had such a holi, again in my life due to strict work routine and limited holidays of my parents and other relatives. But, i genuinely believe that holi means madness and it should be celebrated with all the madness and craze forgetting all the restrictions and yet maintaining the dignity of relationships because respecting relations and yet being mad is the beauty of Indian culture.

And, this year i am again set to play holi same way as my childhood. Thanks Blogadda and parachute advansed to take me back to my childhood memories of holi. This year, again it is going to be a #KhulKeHoli for me. Hope it will be same for everyone this year and always.

“I’m pledging to #KhulKeKheloHoli this year by sharing my Holi memories at BlogAdda in association with Parachute Advansed.”

#ShareTheLoad ( SHARE THE HAPPINESS)

The data in the above picture is of a survey done by ARIEL. And ,yeah !! i know, it is not surprising to most of us because, this is how it has been forever now.Ours is the patriarchal society; where women are supposed to live in home and handle the home affairs and men are supposed to handle the external affairs. But, because the home affairs don't let you make money; so it's obvious that it becomes devalued though, it needs more physical strength than the external affairs.

Well in the same context ,i would like to share my own experience.  We were a family of four. And, my mother was the homemaker and my father meant the second bank for us.We had a maid to do the dishes and mopping and we had a washing machine to wash the clothes . So the major work to do was preparing food and arranging the stuffs. Well, being a good student and getting all the pressure to do good academically and become an IAS or Professor, i still tried  my best to help my mother by doing beds and keeping my things responsibly. I couldn't help her much in the kitchen; though i was a good occasional cook. Being not a help was ok for my brother and my father but i was described as the worst daughter one could have by my relatives. My mother was portrayed as a poor lady and everyone sympathized her.
My relatives did their best to make me under confident and they succeeded too because i was in a constant feeling of guilt looking at my mother and thought of myself as a loser.Yet, my parents supported me and i will always be thankful to them for this.
But, i still feel the guilt for not being a good daughter to my mother , though i was the only help for her in the family even if on a minor basis. I wonder, if my brother ever felt guilty of not being a good son or my father ever felt guilty of not being a good husband to my mother.
And, then i got married; i lived for a while in Delhi with my in-laws and being a newly married; was not expected to do much in the kitchen and then i moved to Mumbai with my husband.
Living with my beloved, i never tried to appease him by portraying myself as an ideal wife one could have and proving the same. We had a maid to do mopping and dishes and a machine for washing the clothes. So again the main work was preparing food.
I never tried to have a special conversation with him about his opinion of lending a hand in kitchen or sharing the load and his willingness to do the household things r not; nor did i ever go onto arranging his things now be it his clothes or documents.
I always involved him with the household chores pouring all love that i could in my voice and he did it. I never asked him to do things as favor or by portraying myself as an advocate of women empowerment because i didn't believe it to be so. Be it while preparing food or doing bedsheets or washing clothes in machine or whatever.. The only commitment that i asked him for was maintaining hygiene. We prepared food together like he kneaded the flour, I prepared the veggies, we made chapatis in turns or alone .He made salads, helped me in cleaning the kitchen platform and our work was done in an hour.

I passed the same to my kids.
Everyday when we wakeup, then we have tasks shared between me and my husband on a major basis and between all four of us on a minor basis to make them value every aspect of life equally. This keeps us connected and very happy in the interactive environment that we have created at our home.
This has brought the sense in each one of us that everyone in this world is entitled to do everything. Mom doesn't has to be a supermom by being a third bank after dad and a second maid at home. Each one of us are human equally deserving a good health, a career, happiness and love and appreciation . Both the parents earn money ; our kids go and study.  This is what we do to survive in this world; that is not life but just a way to sustain life.
All of us have our appearance, clothes, health, accessories  and important documents to look after and that is our individual responsibility and not just the responsibility of our mother or our sister or daughter or wife. They have their own life and stuffs to look after.
Our maid does the dishes and mopping and she is earning bucks for that. It's her way to sustain her life. No work is shameful.
Now we are left with food and we prepare food together and it takes us an hour or may be an extra half to prepare the food when all 4 of us are contributing. We prepare food as fun and not as a load. And then with the time left , i pamper myself, help my kids with their studies. My husband joins us or watch tv or does the stuffs he wants because that is his free time. My kids do their homework, check their uniforms, wash if needed. Same goes with my husband and me.
This keeps each one of us active, alert and conscious of things related to our lives in general like our career, health and relationships and yet keep us connected and happy. We are not only sharing the load but actually sharing happiness; valuing each other making each other self-reliant.

My son is not growing up with the notion that his mother and his sister is supposed to do the household chores because they are females and he is supposed to earn bucks because he was born just for that.
My daughter is not living in guilt for not helping me enough nor anyone is trying to put her down.
We all are happy and so are my in laws and they help us too when they come to us. Infact, my in laws have found this a way to find a love in their relationship at this age which they felt, had lost long ago.
Adding to this, my father and my brother also join us while preparing food and doing other things when they come to us and they are following the same now at their places and so are many of our relatives now.
I just hope that this idea of #ShareTheLoad or rather say #ShareTheHappiness will be followed by every family making our society and the world a great place to live in. This will surely help us to eliminate the gender prejudice not only at the family level but also as humans and will genuinely help to eradicate many crimes arising because of this mindset. Gender prejudice that we see in our family sets the standards of upbringing for our children and direction for evolution in the mindsets of adults. Now the standards and the direction of evolution should be set in a fair and positive way and ARIEL's idea of #ShareTheLoad is the most basic and yet the most powerful way to achieve the same.

“I am joining the Ariel#ShareTheLoad campaign at BlogAdda and blogging about the prejudice related to household chores being passed on to the next generation.

5 THINGS I DO TO MY SKIN EVERYDAY

#CLEANSING MILK#

WELL, MY EVERYDAY SKINCARE STARTS WITH AYUR CLEANSING MILK AS I HAVE DRY SKIN.I USE AYUR SINCE I WAS IN SCHOOL AND I AM STILL USING IT BECAUSE IT WORKS AND IS ECONOMICAL TOO (ALTHOUGH I REALLY WANT TO CHANGE IT NOW) . PRIOR TO THIS, I USE LAKME CLEANSING MILK. BUT, NO I AM SHIFTING TO A TOTALLY DIFFERENT ONE THIS TIME.

#UNDER EYE CREAM #

AND THEN AFTER DRY PATTING MY FACE, I USE THE LOTUS UNDER EYE GEL. IT KEEPS MY UNDER EYE SKIN HEALTHY AND I HAVE REALLY OBSERVED THE CHANGES EVEN THOUGH I AM YOUNG.

#MOISTURISER#

AFTER THIS, I USE LOTUS DMOISTURISER TO KEEP MY SKIN MOISTURISED. IT WORKS FOR ME AND I FEEL FRESH.IT IS NOT EVEN OILY.IT GETS EASILY OBSERVED IN MY SKIN AND KEEPS IT GLOWING, FRESH AND SMOOTH.

#KAAJAL#

AND, THEN COMES THE TURN OF MY VERY DEAR KAAJAL. AND YEAH COLOSSAL DOES THE MAGIC FOR ME. IT DOES NOT SMUDGE  AND LOOKS COAL BLACK. DO I NEED IT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE FOR ME..!!!!

#LIP BALM #

AND HOW CAN I FORGET MY LIPS ..??!!!... WELL I USE MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS TO KEEP MY LIPS PINK, SMOOTH AND PLUMPY......MUAAAHHH...

SO. THESE ARE THE 5 THINGS I DO TO MY FACE EVERYDAY USING THE ABOVEMENTIONED PRODUCTS. FEEL FREE TO  SHARE WITH ME THE PRODUCTS YOU USE.

HEALTHY MEANS BEAUTIFUL:5 ways to a healthy life

WE, AS WOMEN ,NEVER FORGET TO DO THE RIGHT MAKEUP, WEAR THE RIGHT DRESS, GET THE RIGHT HAIRSTYLE AND EVEN THE DIET; BUT THEN THERE ARE A FEW VERY SIMPLE THINGS THAT WE IGNORE MAKING A ROUTINE HABIT AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT MAKE US VULNERABLE TO A NUMBER OF DISEASES. WELL, TODAY I AM GOING TO DISCUSS ABOUT SUCH THINGS ONLY AND HOPEFULLY, IT WILL BE OF GREAT HELP TO YOU.

#USING MOUTHWASH#

EVERY MORNING, WE WAKEUP AND BRUSH OUR TEETH WITH THE BEST TOOTHPASTE AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET. BUT, WE FORGET TO USE A GOOD MOUTHWASH THAT CAN GENUINELY ELIMINATE ANY KIND OF BAD ODOR, THAT ONLY PEOPLE AROUND YOU MIGHT BE KNOWING THAT YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM. SO, WHY TAKE A CHANCE. GET IN TO THE HABIT OF USING A MOUTHWASH AND GET THE PERFECTLY SHINING TEETH AND A MOUTH WITH NO SMELL AND NO DISEASE.

#MAINTAINING INTIMATE HYGIENE#

MIGHT YOU BE USING THE BEST MAKEUP PRODUCT IN THE WORLD; BUT WHAT ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOUR PRIVATE PARTS. DO YOU KNOW THAT USING SOAP IS THE WORST THINGS YOU ARE DOING TO YOUR PRIVATE PARTS BECAUSE THEY DISRUPT THE pH OF YOUR VAGINA AND MAKE CONDITIONS FAVORABLE FOR YEAST TO GROW GIVING YOU ITCHY, WATERY, CHEESY AND PINKISH VAGINA WHICH IS A BIG NO, ATLEAST FOR ME. SO, I WILL RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE A FEMALE HYGIENE WASH WHICH MAINTAINS THE RIGHT pH AND GIVES YOU THE HEALTHY VAGINA WHICH IS FREE FROM ANY SORT OF INFECTIONS AND LESS LIKELY TO BE INFECTED.

#PROBIOTICS IN DIET#

PROBIOTICS IS A BIG YES IF YOU WANT TO MAINTAIN YOUR HEALTH AND GET RID OF INFECTIONS EITHER OF GUT OR VAGINAL.CURD  BEING RICH IN LACTOBACILLUS IS THE BEST SOURCE OF PROBIOTICS AND HELPS TO MAINTAIN THE RIGHT pH.

#CHANGING YOUR NAPKINS AND TAMPONS FREQUENTLY#

WE OFTEN GO ON TO KEEPING THE SAME SANITARY NAPKIN FOR TOO LONG. WELL, IT'S A BIG NO FROM MY SIDE BECAUSE IF YOU KEEP A GIVEN PAD FOR TOO LONG THEN IT BECOMES A BED OF HARMFUL BACTERIA THAT GROWS THERE MAKING YOU MORE PRONE TO INFECTIONS AND CAN EVEN LEAD TO TOXIC SHOCK SYNDROME OR DEATH. ITS GOOD TO CHANGE YOUR PADS EVERY 3-5 HOURS.

#CUTTING NAILS#

AND YEAH, YOU ARE READING IT RIGHT. CUT YOUR NAILS GIRLS. IT SOUNDS UNDESIRABLE BUT IT'S FOR YOUR GOOD. AND, I DONT FEEL , I NEED TO TELL YOU HOW CAN IT BE OF ANY HELP.

BELIEVE ME. YOUR BODY WILL THANK YOU  AND YOU WILL BE FULL OF CONFIDENCE AND OOMPH.; IF YOU FOLLOW THE ABOVE 5 TIPS.

I WANNA SEE THEM TOGETHER IN A MOVIE

WELL, DIPIKA AND RANVEER WERE SMART ENOUGH NOT TO COMMIT THE SAME MISTAKE THAT PREVIOUS POPULAR PAIRS OF BOLLYWOOD COMMITTED. AND TO ADD THE SURPRISE, EVEN AFTER THEIR BREAK UPS; THEY TEAMED IN MOVIES LIKE TAMASHA AND YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI AND BURNED THE FLOOR.

                                                         DEEPIKA AND RANVEER

BUT THEN, THERE WERE MANY WHO WERE WAY MORE SEXIER AND STEAMY AND INTIMATE WITH EACH OTHER ONSCREEN AND LOOKED LIKE THE PERFECT PAIR, MADE IN HEAVEN BUT WE COULDN'T GET TO SEE THEM AGAIN.
GOD KNOWS WHAT REALLY WENT WRONG BETWEEN THEM THAT THEY WERE NEVER PAIRED AGAIN WITH EACH OTHER.

HRITHIK AND KAREENA

WELL, WHENEVER I LOOK AT THEM; I WISH THEY WERE MARRIED. AKSHAY AND SHILPA, BOTH BECOMING YOUNGER WITH AGE, FITTEST IN THE FRATERNITY , THOUGH, WORKED WITH EACH OTHER IN DHADKAN AND JAANWAR POST BREAK UP; BUT NOONE CARED TO PAIR THEM AGAIN.

                                                            AKSHAY AND SHILPA

AND YESSS !!!! THE HOTTEST ONE; THE AITRAAJ PAIR. THE REAL GLAMOUR CAME WHEN BOTH TEAMED FOR A MOVIE. BUT THEIR REAL LIFE ROMANCE MARKED A FULL STOP ON THEIR REEL LIFE ROMANCE. SAD YEAH !!! BUT I JUST HOPE THEY WILL BE TOGETHER SOMEDAY IN A MOVIE.

AKSHAY AND PRIYANKA

HEY !!!! HERE IS THE CUTEST PAIR OF BOLLYWOOD, THE MOST INNOCENT LOOKING FOR ME. BOTH LOOKED YOUNG, CUTE, INNOCENT; A PAIR, I BELIEVE HARD TO BE REPLACED.
AAMIR AND JUHI

AMITABH AND REKHA ARE THE GOLDEN PAIRS AND FEELS LIKE THEY WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER. BOTH HAVING COMPARABLE HEIGHT, COMPARABLE PERSONALITY, STRONG DIALOGUE DELIVERY LOOKED LIKE A PERFECT MATCH ONSCREEN

REKHA AND AMITABH

WELL, MY HEART ACHES LOOKING AT THIS PICTURE OF SALMAN AND AISHWARYA. I JUST WISH THEY WERE TOGETHER NOT ONLY IN A MOVIE BUT IN REAL LIFE TOO.

SALMAN AND AISHWARYA

HYGEINE MEASURES DURING MENSURATION

YOU CAN TAKE THE FOLLOWING HYGEINE MEASURES DURING MENSURATION:

1.Take a bath or shower at least once a day.

2.Use clean undergarments and change them regularly.

3.Change pads or tampons regularly. (4-6 HOURS IS THE LIMIT)

4.Wash the genital area with plain water (no soap) after each use of toilet and even after urination.
5.Keep the area between the legs dry, otherwise you may experience chafing.
6.It is very important to remember that vagina has its own self cleaning mechanism and an external cleaning agent like deodorant or soap should not be used inside it.

BEAUTY AND TALENT: A DEADLY COMBINATION (and so are these girls)

AND, HERE STARTS THE LIST OF MY 5 MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN.

FIRST OFCOURSE, IS MADHUBALA.WHO ELSE IT COULD BE EITHER ?; IF BEAUTY WAS THE MATTER.WHEN SHE SMILE SHE MAKES YOU DESIRE TO SMILE. IT FEELS THAT SHE IS SMILING WITH HER SOUL OUT. SHE IS THE CLASSIC GODDESS. THE EPITOME OF BEAUTY.

1.MADHUBALA

AND THEN COMES REKHA. THE ONE IN 80'S .WOW!!!!!.HER EYES SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS. HER FACE DANCES AND SPEAKS TO THE UNIVERSE, WHEN SHE IS ACTING.SHE IS THE GODDESS.THE PERFECT WOMAN

2.REKHA

AND HERE IS SRIDEVI. THE ACTING GODDESS. BE IT THE GIRL IN CHAALBAAJ OR THE ONE IN CHANDANI.; HER ACTING MAKES OTHERS IN BOLLYWOOD DOUBT OF THEIR CAPABILITIES.

                                                                          3. SRIDEVI

THEY SAY DANCING AIDS TO YOUR PERSONALITY AND MADHURI DIXIT IS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF IT. HER EYES , HER FACE  AND HER BODY, HAND MOVEMENT; ALL SEEMS LIKE MUSIC, AS IF SHE IS A SONG.
                                                                    4. MADHURI DIXIT

THE  BOLLYWOOD WILL BE EVER INCOMPLETE WITHOUT MENTION OF THE AISHWARYA RAI IN IT.SHE WAS THE ONE WHO WAS MORE TALKED FOR HER BEAUTY THAN HER TALENT. SHE EXHIBITED HER TALENT IN MOVIES LIKE PROVOKE, RAINCOAT, HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, TAAL, CHOKHER BAALI , GUJAARISH AND DEVDAS AND IS STILL ADDING WITH ALL HER VIGOUR. SHE WAS INTERVIEWED IN AMERICAN TV SHOWS MORE FOR HER BEAUTY THAN FOR HER TALENT. SHE IS INDEED THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, NO DOUBT.
                                                                 5. AISHWARYA RAI

AND HERE IS THE ONE IN THE MAKING OR LOOKING AT THE WAY, SHE IS MAKING SUCCESS; WE MIGHT SAY THAT SHE HAS ALREADY JOINED THE LEAGUE WITH MOVIES LIKE COCKTAIL, RAMLEELA, BAAJIRAO MASTANI, CHENNAI EXPRESS TO NAME A FEW.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE
